Good luck to our Piping Instructor Kirk Brunson as he competes in the World Championships in Scotland August 17 and 18th.  This event will be live streamed if you wish to tune in.

Good luck also to Pipe Sgt Rick Tustin as he competes solo for the first time at the Maine games August 17th.

The band continues to prepared for the upcoming NH Highland games Sept 20-22nd at Loon Mtn, Lincloln NH.  Look for us in the Massed Bands opening and closing and on the field of competition.

“Kirk Brunson began playing the pipes in 2002 and is a student of Willie McCallum. Additional tuition has come from some of the world’s top players including Jack Lee, Chris Armstrong, Glenn Brown, Callum Beaumont, Margret Dunn, Donald F. Lindsay, Adam Holdaway, and Alasdair Gillies. In 2006, he joined the Stuart Highlanders and has played with them as they have risen from grade 5 to sweeping the grade two qualifier and taking fifth overall at the 2011 Worlds. Currently, he is playing with both the grade 2 Stuart Highlanders and the grade 1 Halifax Citadel pipe bands. Some of Kirk’s competitive successes include winning the Sandy Jones, US Junior Championship: The Balmoral Classic, USPF, and the Metro Cup as well as placing in the Piobaireachd and MSR at the Nicol Brown and George Sherriff. He credits the outstanding instruction he has received for his successto date, and is keenly interested in seeing the level of instruction and play continue to increase in the Northeast.

As secretary and administrative assistant for the Invermark College of Piping and Drumming as well as being heavily involved in the Interviews with Professional Pipers series in The Voice, Kirk is qualified to hold the Northeast Branch’s secretary position in that he has both the playing experience to provide valuable input and the administrative skills to fulfill the role’s responsibilities.
