Welcome!

Westford & District Pipes and Drums is a fire service pipe band made up of Public Safety personnel and civilians who support the mission of the band.

Happy Thanksgiving

The Fall season was relatively quiet for the Band.  We kicked off September by marching in the Milford NH Labor Day parade.  This was a first for the band and we do look forward to marching again next year.

To once again honor the 9/11 Fallen we took part in two ceremonies the weekend preceding September 11th.  Once again we were honored to play at the NH Stair climb, this year held at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, Manchester NH home of the NH Fischer Cats and also we took part in Burlington MA 9/11 ceremony.  Always an honor to do so.

The NH Highland Games and Festival was held September 15th – 17th this year.  Although we did not compete we did take part in the opening ceremonies and enjoyed some great camaraderie at the Games with fellow band mates and friends.  The NH Games is always a highlight of our year and a great time to begin to slow down a bit.

As it is our mission and greatest honor to always be ever ready to pipe a fallen firefighter or police officer to their final rest we sent three pipers to pipe  for Fallen Firefighter Lt Stevens of the Ayer and Devens FD on Oct 20th.

We welcomed a new bass drummer to the band at the end of October – welcome aboard Michelle Spencer.  Michelle is a member of a private ambulance company.  Having drumming experience Michelle has been able to jump right in and take part in band events.

November we honored our Veterans.  The band took part in two ceremonies.  In Westford Pipe Sgt Don Parsons handled this event as a solo piper as the ceremony was indoors.  In Winchester Pipe Major Rick Tustin along with Pipers Mike Fontannay, Tim Browne, Bryan Bedard and Side Drummer Ralph Morrison and our newest Bass Drummer Michelle Spencer braved the unseasonably cold weather and march in Winchester’s parade.  We thank all of our Veterans for their service.

As we come to the end of the Fall season we have few more events on our books for December.  We will be performing as a guest with the Westford Academy on December 6th.  December 8th we will be sending two pipers to Austin Prep in Reading MA to lead a procession for Mass for First Responders and we will be marching once again in Hampstead NH Christmas parade on December 10th.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will have some unseasonably warm weather for these events.

From all of us here in the Band we wish all of our friends and supporters a safe and Happy Thanksgiving
