25th Marine Corp Regiment Relief & Appointment & Retirement Ceremony

It was with honor that we were asked to perform on July 9th for the 25th Marine Corp Regiment’s Relief & Appointment and Retirement Ceremony for Sgt Major Tracy Linch.  This formal ceremony marked the transfer of command from Sgt Major Linch to Sgt Major Boutin.  It also marked the retirement of Sgt Major Linch form the Marines after 30 years of duty.

As part of this formal ceremony we performed in the pre-parade serenade then smartly marched off to our position on the field to await the formation of the troops. Following the formation of the troops a “sound off” was called and the band proudly marched along the ranks of the troops, counter marched and returned to a position on the field playing Green Hills/Battles Over.  We could not beat the rain however and just as the ceremony was nearing a close and the Pass In Review in front of the Commander was to begin the heavens opened up on us.  Getting thoroughly soaked in the downpour we played our Scotland the Brave set as the Marines Passed in Review.  We closed the ceremony with the playing of the Marine Corp Hymn.  Wet but proud of our performance we toweled off at our cars and joined Sgt Major Linch and the rest of the Marines and guests for a post ceremony reception.

We enjoyed a very nice reception and were honored by both Sgt Major Linch and Colonel Samarov with the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation from the 25th Marine Regiment for our service to the ceremony.

Stay tuned for pictures from this ceremony.
