Well it has been quite a year for the band. In some manner or another members of the band took part in 27 various events over the past year capping off with our participation on Sunday December 13th at the Townsend MA Fire Dept’s new station ceremony. We were proud to take part in this event.
Other highlights this past Fall has been marching with the Greater Boston Pipes & Drums in the annual Maynard Christmas Parade on Dec 6th. Pipe Major Rick Tustin took part in Veteran’s Day ceremonies in Winchester while Pipe Sgt Don Parsons handled the Westford ceremony. We thank the Winchester Veteran’s Post 3719 for their generous donation to the band this past year. We were also honored to lead in MA Fire Academy class 236 as they graduated from the academy on November 20th.
Well the competition season has come to a close with the NH Highland Games at Loon Mountain this past weekend. The band put on a great performance with its new set and although we may not have placed it was a stellar effort by all. A great weekend never the less starting with a great band dinner on Friday night at the Common Man in Ashland NH. A very fun evening with some impromptu entertainment by our own Pipe Sgt Parsons, who by the way made an excellent lunch for the band on Saturday.
Join the band this weekend at the 40th NH Highland Games at Loon Mountain in Lincoln NH. The band will be taking part in the massed band opening ceremony, competing in the Grade 5 band competitions and finishing up with the closing ceremony on Saturday. The band is looking for a strong performance this year and is excited with the musical selection. Good luck to the band in this years competition.
